Yoga for Strength and Restoration

  • The Reed Center for Ecosystem Reintegration 1932 Mountain Church Road Middletown, MD, 21769 United States (map)

In this 75 minute class, we will spend the first half building inner heat and strength through slow and intentional movement, targeting different areas of the body that tend to be weak, tight or underutilized. Using mindful, deliberate movement not only enhances muscular strength, but also increases endurance and stability. Slowing down our practice in this way will help us to move into postures and through transitions noticing the nuances and the subtleties, as we pay attention to our breath, our body alignment and sensations for a truly embodied experience.

This embodiment approach helps us to better yoke our physical, mental, emotional and subtle bodies allowing for less stress, more clarity, emotional balance, and deeper connection to self and the world around us.

We will then take the last half of our practice in a restorative direction. With offerings such as fascial release and yin, we will invite our warmed bodies to find and stay in postures that allow for a deeper relaxation of our muscles, connective tissues and ligaments, increasing flexibility and fostering a sense of equanimity and calm.

Take a moment away from the middle of the week “blah” to feel stronger, more empowered, balanced and restored.

Classes are taught by our Yoga and Wellness Director, Toni Grace. Everyone is welcome, regardless of athleticism or yogic experience. Many modifications will be offered, and mats and props are on site for use by all.
