About Morning View Food Forest
The REED Center’s headquarters are located at Morning View Food Forest in Central Maryland—our primary demonstration site for regenerative land stewardship and human connection. Morning View is a place of healing: a living classroom where people reconnect with themselves, with one another, and with the thriving ecosystems that sustain life.
Set amid the quietude of nature, Morning View invites reflection on our shared humanity and our place within the larger web of life. It is both a sanctuary and a proving ground—where ideas take root, and ecological systems are cultivated not just for survival, but for thriving.
At Morning View, we are transforming land shaped by nearly 300 years of conventional agriculture into a diverse, nature-mimicking polyculture. This transition allows us to observe, document, and refine regenerative practices in real time. Our goal is to build scalable, diversified agro-ecosystems that not only increase food production, but enhance the bionutrient density of that food—measurably improving human and planetary health.
Founder and soil ecologist Ben Friton began this work after witnessing the collapse of reforestation efforts that failed to account for the needs of local communities. His response: develop systems that meet the environmental imperative for biodiversity and resilience and directly address human needs through accessible, regenerative models.
Morning View is more than a farm—it’s a platform for education, experimentation, and renewal. Whether you're interested in workshops, volunteer days, or immersive experiences, we invite you to explore the land with us.
