Jared Wilmer, Communications & Events Assistant / Resident Historian

Jared supports The REED Center part-time with newsletters, website updates, and event communications. Alongside this role, he also serves as the Center’s Resident Historian, researching the cultural and ecological history of the land at South Mountain and Frederick County.

His current work places special emphasis on Indigenous history in the region, with a personal interest in how racial integrity laws targeted Indigenous families in Virginia, including his own ancestry.

Originally from Carroll County, MD, and Loudoun County, VA, Jared has long felt a deep connection to the landscapes of Frederick County, where Cunningham Falls and Point of Rocks remain two of his most cherished natural spaces.
