Jared Wilmer, Development Manager

Jared began his nonprofit journey in 2013, founding a mental health awareness organization that leveraged digital media to engage the millennial generation. Since then, he has worked as a marketing and fundraising contractor for multiple small nonprofits. He earned his undergraduate degree from McDaniel College in 2018 and later became the lead student researcher on a $2.5 million SAMHSA grant studying co-occurring disorders in rural North Carolina while pursuing a master’s in clinical counseling at East Carolina University.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jared worked as a crisis counselor for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and played a key role in launching 988 in North Carolina. In 2024, he transitioned from the mental health field and found his way to The REED Center while living in Frederick, MD. With his background in marketing, fundraising, and operations, Jared is focused on helping The REED Center grow and achieve its mission.

Originally from Carroll County, MD, and Loudoun County, VA, Jared has always felt a deep connection to Frederick County, where Cunningham Falls and Point of Rocks remain two of his most cherished natural spaces.
