Plant Propagation: Grafting, Dividing, Cutting, Nut and Seed Growing *

  • The Reed Center for Ecosystem Reintegration 1932 Mountain Church Road Middletown, MD, 21769 United States (map)

Whether you're trying to grow out your permaculture project or support life in your community, learning how to grow and support perennial plant life is a necessary skill. In this class, we'll be diving into the ways plant life perpetuates itself, and what you can do to support plant growth using ecological principles.

Specifically, we'll be learning about propagating established plants through cuttings or grafting, and how to propagate plants through seed saving and seed stratification. Everybody will be able to bring home a plant with them after this class.

The format of this class will include some classroom time interspersed with time in nature and hands-on activities, including grafting. Taking this class will support you with the knowledge you need to start propagating your own plants. Please bring your own lunch and water bottle, a notebook, something to write with, warm layers, and durable shoes or boots. We will be providing light snacks, water, coffee, and tea.

* This class is mandatory for students who are signed up for the permaculture design course.

This class counts toward the permaculture design certification, if you have signed up to take the PDC.

There are 6 PDC credit hours given for attending this class.
