Understanding how water flows and where it goes in its travels throughout our landscapes and atmosphere is a crucial part of supporting thriving ecosystems and feeling more connected to the processes that sustain us. In this class, we'll be doing hands-on work to help deepen our understanding of the hydrologic cycle. We'll also be learning about how water is absorbed and infiltrates into a landscape, and how to sink and spread water to where it is needed.
The format of this class will include some classroom time, but there will be lots of walking to explore various ways that water interacts under varied circumstances. We will be discussing problem solving, management techniques, and ways to optimize water storage and flow to meet specific needs on the landscape. Please bring your own lunch and water bottle, a notebook, something to write with, warm layers, and durable shoes or boots. We will be providing light snacks, water, coffee, and tea.
* This class is mandatory if you are taking the permaculture design course.
