Fall Permaculture & Remembrance Gathering

  • The Reed Center for Ecosystem Reintegration 1932 Mountain Church Road Middletown, MD, 21769 United States (map)

Late October is a wonderful time to reflect on new knowledge gained and to tie together the observations of a changing landscape as fall settles in. In this class, we hope to bring together as many of our 2023 PDC students and past alumni as possible to participate as a community.

We'll start the day by planting some trees together as part of the ground-breaking for the Tree of Life. Then, we will hear presentations from our PDC Project Track students and provide feedback to help them move forward with their evolving designs. Any alumni will be welcome to share their experiences with projects they may actively be working on as well.

At the end of the day, we will gather around a fire at the plateau overlooking the Middletown Valley for Full Moonrise, which will be at 6:07 p.m. We'll take this time to do a remembrance of those who have passed on, and reflect on how their stories and ours have intertwined to make us the people that we are and want to become. We will then have a musical jam session AND a Halloween Tree-or-Treat scavenger hunt.

This class counts toward the permaculture design certification, if you have signed up to take the PDC.

There are 6 PDC credit hours given for attending this class.

All classes are offered on a sliding scale pricing model; please pay at the rate that is within the means of your lived reality. If you are financially comfortable, we invite you to pay at the higher rate to support our efforts growing this vision. If you are coming from experience with structural marginalization or other economically-challenging circumstances, we invite you to pay at the lowest end of the sliding scale or to reach out to inquire about work trade opportunities.
