With the increasing recognition of the importance of native plants in local landscapes, numerous programs are being developed to support and incentivize native tree and shrub plantings. In this class, students will learn how to optimize a native plant design for specific goals and ease of care.
Whether your objective is to create wildlife habitat or go on to develop income streams from native plantings, this class will provide valuable insights. We'll be discussing native timber production, native food forests, native cut floral plantings, native coppicing/pollarding for fuel production, crafting, and other purposes. We'll also be discussing silvopasture and options for including animals in your landscape designs.
Please bring your own lunch and water bottle, a notebook, something to write with, and durable shoes or boots. We will be providing light snacks, water, coffee, and tea.
This class counts toward the permaculture design certification, if you have signed up to take the PDC.
There are 8 PDC credit hours given for attending this class.
